PG&E The PGE ClimateSmart Program

The ClimateSmartTM program is a new, voluntary option from PG&E that enables local governments and their community residents and businesses to take action against climate change by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their energy use. Along with using energy more efficiently and installing on-site renewable generation (like solar), PG&E customers now have another powerful tool, with the ClimateSmart program, to make a positive impact on the environment and together meet community greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Growing community leadership

An increasing number of cities and counties in northern and central California have set aggressive greenhouse gas reduction goals. These leaders are using a wide variety of strategies to meet these goals—both taking direct action and working with residents and local businesses. Through the ClimateSmart program, PG&E is looking to help your community meet its greenhouse gas reduction goals by working in partnership to:

• Raise general awareness about climate change and how we can all reduce our personal climate impact.

• Reduce the energy used within your community.

• Offset the remaining energy-related emissions from your municipal buildings and encourage your community's residents and businesses to do the same. PG&E can also provide an annual accounting of your community's energy-related carbon footprint, as well as the emission reductions from enrolled ClimateSmart customers in your city or county.
